Time Team’s Coming To America

Archaeology in Europe: 04/01/2008 – 05/01/2008

Popular British archeology series Time Team is coming to America, as a joint production with Oregon Public Broadcasting. Cool! I’ve been envious of the reports about Time Team digs and episodes ever since I’ve been reading Archeology in Europe, which is written by the partner of a dear college friend of mine.

The first series will cover six episodes, with the team of experts on Time Team, USA (working title) exploring some of America’s most intriguing archaeological sites, with locations under consideration including the pre-historic Mounds of Mississippi, earth pyramids outside St. Louis, Missouri and the country’s most ancient campsite, the Skull Creek Dune in southeastern Oregon.

If I’m not mistaken, that Oregon site is where the “ancient poo” was found.

  1. Yes, that cave. Implying the first Americans came by skin boat, which opens the first arrival time to anytime at all, not dependent on interstadials. Coulda been 50,000 years ago.

  2. I thought there were some well-documented sites in South America that were thought to date to more than 30,000 years ago, but it seems like the articles thought Clovis was the “first before all.” Well, the last time I really studied this stuff was 30 years ago, I thought they’d pushed the dates back a lot further… must read more. Thanks, Rev.
