Stressed Out? How You Handle It May Predict Future Health Issues

    April 20, 2013 - By ginny

Uh, my work life got a LOT more stressful recently, and it’s probably not healthy to scream at my computer with my phone mic muted. Also: not healthy to go days without leaving the house. Must. Do. Something. In the latest research showing just how important the handling of stress is, a new study shows that having a stress-prone personality could seriously up your risk for heart disease. The new research, conducted in a large Danish population, found that people who are "mentally vulnerable" — meaning they are more susceptible to stress — are at a significantly higher risk for both…

WordPress: Miniposts Working Via Quickpress, Film At Eleven

    February 26, 2013 - By ginny

I had to start using 2 plugins on the church blog that use post formats to do the job that Miniposts does here. Not sure why it stopped working there.

WordPress: Is The Minipost Plugin Still Working?

    February 26, 2013 - By ginny

I disabled it on the church blog because it got screwed up and had a fatal error. This plugin hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress. via WordPress › Miniposts « WordPress Plugins

Lifehacker: Do You Like Working From Home? Me: Yes. Did IBrush My Hair Today? Don’t Remember

    February 26, 2013 - By ginny

Lifehacker wants to know if I work from home, but they apparently don’t want me to quote their article, just comment there. So I did, but kept screwing up their sign-in screen. What’s the deal with creating a key that can’t be copied, only shown on screen as an image? Anyway, yes, I like working from home. It was particularly nice today watching the latest winter storm blow in and dump about 5 inches of snow. However, network problems made my day somewhat challenging, and as David was home today too, he had to listen to my howls of outrage…

Welcome To Invisibility, Formerly Young and Pretty Women. We Unconventional Women Hope You Enjoy Your Stay

    January 26, 2013 - By ginny

This morning, I had a crazy "back in high school" dream no doubt triggered by pondering my rather disappointing, invizibul life. In it, a guy that I didn't know well, but had been friendly with argued with me about being invisible or unattractive. In fact, this dream-guy told me that I was admirable for having "an awesome and world-changing command of goof." Yes, my subconscious reminded me that my greatest attribute as a woman is my awesome and world-changing command of goof. It's not my appearance, but my cock-eyed outlook that makes me stand out. I have to agree with…

Stealth Junk Mail From AT&T Addressed to “Our Neighbor” In Fake Handwriting

The only reason I opened this junk mail is that it appears to be actual human communication via the US Mail. Alas, no.

  • Insurance season is almost over, thank Dog

Avoid health sharing plans, they're not that great a deal. A friend had one while getting some pretty serious treatment, and he struggled to get the care he needed.

Elisabeth Yoder and her son Darragh recently experienced a huge gap in their health care "coverage." They stand in front of the family home, and they belong to a Christian "health sharing" plan that didn't reimburse for a recent ambulance ride.

  • Charm Patch Quilt: On Point

From Sew Can She - this looks like a great way to use up charm squares and scraps that can be at least 4 1/2-5 inches square. The contrast fabric and on-point arrangement add good visual interest without being too busy.

  • Tea Towel Hems

Bought some tea towels for gifts, looking for tutorials for adding colorful hanging cuffs after hemming.

I lean toward Method 1, mitred corners. Will decide once the towels arrive in case the selvage edges are good quality.

  • Sorry About The Mess: Trump Wrecking World Economy

Post: He’s nuts if he thinks manufacturers will move to the US; they like paying rock bottom non-union wages and they’ll pass the higher costs to American consumers. Lose-lose! What can possibly go wrong?

Since he lives in his own bubble universe, I’m wondering how long his big donors, the few relatively sane conservatives in Congress, and his “IKEA cabinet” will hold out until the murmurs behind the scenes become screaming fights in the Oval Office.

Spine of steel? Nope. Skull of rock.

Maury Povich lie detector meme: It says here… Trump is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Global economy rocked again as rates on imports to the US from dozens of trading partners rose further, with China hit by 104% tariffs

  • Now Listening: Joni Mitchell | Black Crow

Joni Mitchell album cover Black Crow. A woman is superimposed over an empty road that leads into her silhouette.

    Text:

”Black Crow - There's a crow flying Black and ragged Tree to tree He's black as the highway that's leading me Now he's diving down To pick up on something shiny I feel like that black crow Flying In a blue sky I took the ferry to the highway Then I drove to a pontoon plane I took a plane to a taxi And a taxi to a train I've been traveling so long How'm I ever gonna know my home When I see it again I'm like a black crow flying In a blue blue sky In search of love and music My whole life has been Illumination Corruption And diving diving diving diving Diving down to pick up on every shiny thing Just like that black crow flying In a blue sky I looked at the morning After being up all night I looked at my haggard face in the bathroom light I looked out the window And I I saw that ragged soul take flight I saw a back crow flying In a blue sky Oh I'm like a black crow flying In a blue sky”
