    Stonyfield Yogurt – Beef Stroganoff

    June 4, 2009 - By ginny

I just made Beef Stroganoff using a Stoneyfield Yogurt recipe that I’ve had for years (David avoids dairy food but can tolerate yogurt). The funny thing is I’ve never actually used Stoneyfield, just whatever plain nonfat yogurt I found at the store. This time I used a Greek yogurt called Chobani that I found at Meijier, and notice a marked improvement in taste and texture. Result: very creamy and smooth, nice and thick, and VERY tangy. Stoneyfield is fine, too, but this Chobani stuff is strained Greek-style, and thus isn’t watery or “loose” when combined at the end. The Dijon…

Warehouse 13: But Do They Have Data?

    June 4, 2009 - By ginny

TV roundup: Every sci-fi and fantasy show to watch this summer | SCI FI Wire Warehouse 13, Syfy. Premieres July 7 at 9 p.m. This new dramedy from the reinvented Syfy follows the adventures of two Secret Service agents, Pete (Eddie McClintock) and Myka (Joanne Kelly), who end up tracking down mysterious artifacts for the super-secret government facility known as Warehouse 13. Saul Rubinek plays the Warehouse’s quirky caretaker, Artie. The premiere kicks off with a two-hour pilot and is from executive producers Jack Kenny and David Simkins. Thirteen episodes have been ordered. Poor Saul Rubinek. He seems to be…

Tiananmen Square: One Man, Many Tanks

    June 4, 2009 - By ginny

[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/9-nXT8lSnPQ" width="425" height="344" wmode="transparent" /] One man, with shopping bags, made a difference, even for a short while. I never knew there was a video, I had only seen the iconic photo. Apparently, the man actually climbed up on the lead tank for a while to shout at the soldiers within. You can hear crowd noises swelling as he delays the tank column. The twentieth anniversary of Tienanmen Square is reportedly being marked with plenty of plainclothes cops keeping people from videotaping, photographing, or doing anything to bring attention to the day. Feeling a bit sad at the news…

Perhaps the Furry-Loving Republicans Have Their Own Pluff!

    June 4, 2009 - By ginny

What? It’s a game controller. E3: An Indiecade Pluff profile | Technology | Los Angeles Times. Furry new cool kids’ ha-ha joke, since an obscure Pennsylvannia aide to a GOP legislator was arrested soliciting sex from a minor, with the added twist of furversion (which is apparently yiffing with bad intent).

  • Insurance season is almost over, thank Dog

Avoid health sharing plans, they're not that great a deal. A friend had one while getting some pretty serious treatment, and he struggled to get the care he needed.

Elisabeth Yoder and her son Darragh recently experienced a huge gap in their health care "coverage." They stand in front of the family home, and they belong to a Christian "health sharing" plan that didn't reimburse for a recent ambulance ride.

  • Charm Patch Quilt: On Point

From Sew Can She - this looks like a great way to use up charm squares and scraps that can be at least 4 1/2-5 inches square. The contrast fabric and on-point arrangement add good visual interest without being too busy.

  • Tea Towel Hems

Bought some tea towels for gifts, looking for tutorials for adding colorful hanging cuffs after hemming.

I lean toward Method 1, mitred corners. Will decide once the towels arrive in case the selvage edges are good quality.

  • Sorry About The Mess: Trump Wrecking World Economy

Post: He’s nuts if he thinks manufacturers will move to the US; they like paying rock bottom non-union wages and they’ll pass the higher costs to American consumers. Lose-lose! What can possibly go wrong?

Since he lives in his own bubble universe, I’m wondering how long his big donors, the few relatively sane conservatives in Congress, and his “IKEA cabinet” will hold out until the murmurs behind the scenes become screaming fights in the Oval Office.

Spine of steel? Nope. Skull of rock.

Maury Povich lie detector meme: It says here… Trump is as dumb as a box of rocks.

Global economy rocked again as rates on imports to the US from dozens of trading partners rose further, with China hit by 104% tariffs

  • Now Listening: Joni Mitchell | Black Crow

Joni Mitchell album cover Black Crow. A woman is superimposed over an empty road that leads into her silhouette.

    Text:

”Black Crow - There's a crow flying Black and ragged Tree to tree He's black as the highway that's leading me Now he's diving down To pick up on something shiny I feel like that black crow Flying In a blue sky I took the ferry to the highway Then I drove to a pontoon plane I took a plane to a taxi And a taxi to a train I've been traveling so long How'm I ever gonna know my home When I see it again I'm like a black crow flying In a blue blue sky In search of love and music My whole life has been Illumination Corruption And diving diving diving diving Diving down to pick up on every shiny thing Just like that black crow flying In a blue sky I looked at the morning After being up all night I looked at my haggard face in the bathroom light I looked out the window And I I saw that ragged soul take flight I saw a back crow flying In a blue sky Oh I'm like a black crow flying In a blue sky”
