    A President’s Posthumous Last Words

Ford attacks Bush over Iraq invasion in message from beyond the grave | Iraq | Guardian Unlimited President George Bush, accustomed to criticism from Republicans of his fathers generation, suffered a rebuke from beyond the grave from the late president Gerald Ford yesterday in published comments calling the war on Iraq a mistake. In an interview with the Washington Posts Bob Woodward, granted on condition that it be published only after Mr Fords death, the late president said he strongly disagreed with Mr Bushs stated justification for the war – that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction. He also…

    A Closer Flight With God

"Sky Torah" takes to the air with Israeli carrier – Yahoo News NEW YORK Reuters – Israels No. 2 carrier, Israir Airlines, is permanently installing a handwritten Torah scroll on board one of its aircraft, marking the first "Sky Torah" in aviation history, the airline said on Wednesday.  The scroll, which was created for the airline in Aventura, Florida, will begin its journey to Israel on Thursday with a ceremony at New Yorks John F. Doctor Who: Spoilers in Linked News Item, Plus Also We Are Such Geeks

BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Doctor Who Spoiler warning for my husband David, and for ***Dave of DDtB – we’re only up to the end of the second season here, but the linked article includes information about the third season now being filmed. And meanwhile, David is hooking up his new toy, which is some kind of mega-whizbang media hub switch thing that will allow us to view shows captured by his Snapstream software, which acts as an auxiliary to TiVo. Fred Barnes: Pundit, Provocateur, and Parishioner

The Gay Bishops Links Remember the smear campaign conducted against Gene Robinson when he was elected Bishop of New Hampshire: Fred Barnes started it. Remember the huge amount of publicity generated by the  news that two large and conservative parishes were leaving the Episcopal Church? Fred Barnes is a member of one of them, and as a FOX pundit-on-call he commented on it on air. Remember the IRD? Fred Barnes is on the board. Coincidence? I think not.  Via  Jake

  • The Life of Riley

    Riley’s Big Adventure

It wasn’t really a big deal, just a yearly trip to the vet. However, it’s already been blogged over at Rileycat. Afterwards, much petting. Riley’s in great health and we found that the chip that he had is one of the brands our vet, the Arlington Cat Clinic, carries. So we’ll re-register it at last under our name – we mislaid the form a while back so it’s good that we got around to that at last. The brand name is “Avid” and apparently we can’t register that one online, so David’s mailing the form today. He was pretty subdued…

Truro and Falls Church Support the Insupportable

Ex-Gay Watch: Ex-Gay Ministries and the Episcopal Split The main page of Truro Church's website endorses several "ex-gay" ministries, and a class recently taught at their sister parish Falls Church recommends gays seek counseling in order to "go straight." This sort of thing is usually found in your more hairy-eyeball fundamentalist church…

    What We Did Yesterday

David and I celebrated Jewish Christmas yesterday with my in-laws; we went to a movie and then drove around looking for a Chinese restaurant that was open. Actually, we never did, but a sports bar was open, so that's where we ended up eating. The movie was "The Good Shepherd," which was extremely layered and nuanced. You really had to pay attention to details, and the foreshadowing was there for the ending, but it was so subtle that when I pointed it out to my husband David, he was amazed. Matt Damon's performance as CIA man Edward Wilson was masterful;…
