Life On Mars Returns in 2007

BBC – Drama – Life On Mars – Series 2 The excellent BBC cop show about a modern day police detective who has some sort of accident in 2006 and wakes up in 1973, as a cop, in that very shaggy, very “me decade” decade returns sometime this year on BBC One. There’s no telling how long until it shows up on BBC America, though, which leaves me feeling a bit glum. That reminds me – I really need to check out BBCA and see if I need to ginger up TiVo a bit. Arcade Fire & David Bowie: Life…

Global Warming in from the Cold!

AP Wire | 01/30/2007 | Panel hears climate 'spin' allegations WASHINGTON – Federal scientists have been pressured to play down global warming, advocacy groups testified Tuesday at the Democrats' first investigative hearing since taking control of Congress. It's good to have a Congress capable of doing its job: investigating the issues and providing oversight. And yes, you WH pinheads, global warming is fact, not fiction.

Ex Old Skool Flickrite Attempts New Skool Post

Flickr’s been bugging me to update my log-in from the “old skool” ID I originally built to a Yahoo-based ID. So I did it, and then after it was too late, they airily mention on the “welcome to the new skool” landing page that any API-based Flickr tools and applications I may have might not work anymore. Oh. Well, thank you for warning me in advance. ecto uses a very handy and important-to-me API app that pulls in photos from Flickr very easily so I can post them, and also eventually I’ll get the Photo Album plug-in working on my…

The Truth About Republicans and Gay Sex

They keep bringing up these damn amendments because… they're obsessed with it.  Alamogordo Daily News – Republicans: Stop thinking about gay sex It seems to me Republicans spend more time thinking about gay sex than any other group of people in the known world even more so than gay people trying to find other gay people with whom to have sex. Rats! I’m Philip Jose’ Farmer

I am: Philip José Farmer This prolific author brings surprising depths to he-man adventure tales, and broke science fiction’s prudery barrier. Which science fiction writer are you? This is all very well, but I was shooting for either Keith Laumer, Alexei Panshin, James M. Tiptree., or C.J. Cherryh. As seen at DDtB.

Happy Feet and a Half Rack at the All Night Strut

The All Night Strut We went to see the latest offering in our season ticket series at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theater – and like many times before went in not knowing what to expect, and came out smiling. “All Night Strut” is a revue – it’s one of those pastiche shows with a lot of songs, a lot of dancing, and no plot, story, or structure to get in the way. It’s framed by vignettes with a clown figure called “Coda,” who introduces the show, plays around with lights, music, and dancers, and gets up to gently amusing mischief. Here’s…
