ABC News: Stingray Kills ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin No, it wasn’t a croc that got him in the end, but a stingray thwapped him in the chest with the barbed tip of its tail. Irwin will be immortalized as the “Crikey!” guy who got right up close to dangerous animal. In this case, a few times too many…but I’ll always remember him as yet another celebrity baby-dangler.

I had the day off today, asked for it months ago in November, back before everything changed. Tomorrow would have been Mom’s 91st birthday, and the original idea was vaguely “go to Salt Lake for the long weekend and spend it with Mom,” since I missed part of her 90th birthday celebrations last year due to not asking for the Friday off of Labor Day weekend back in the November before that. Remember way back when I sprained my foot? That was almost 2 years ago, and my foot still bothers me. I never did get around to going to physical therapy, and I haven’t been wearing very good shoes. In fact, the last 8 months or so, I’ve been wearing flip-flops and Birks, because my sport shoes were actually a size too small, as my feet have gotten larger.
