Heh, it’s just not Sunday without reading the funnies! This one begged to be blogged. “You’re one of those lactose intolerants!” I loves me some whacked-out Bucky Katt. Early rising is usually not in the cards Chez Gique on the weekends, but there’s something about spring mornings that makes it a little easier to bestir oneself. Of course, we have 3 functioning alarm clocks (one feline), so our pre- and post-dawn routine follows a comfortable pattern. This morning, most unusually, I got up a couple of hours before absolutely necessary and fetched the laptop for a little Sunday morning blogging…

I have to join this Flickr group. It’s called “Bad Parking.” This particular example is just wrong and bad and evil on so many levels. And of course, it’s emblematic of so much that is wrong with this country and our treatment of everyone else in the world. Via: Flickr Title: Compact what? By: earthdog Originally uploaded: 20 Jul ’05, 10.39pm PST No matter what kind of Hummer you have, it is not a compact car. You should not park in a compact spot. This is not that hard to understand

Salt Lake Tribune – Salt Lake Tribune Home Page Born Dec. 1, 1919, in Caddo, Texas, Charles Augustus Steen earned a geology degree from the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy in 1943. In 1950, a U.S. government campaign to draw prospectors to the Four Corners area in search of uranium for Cold War weapons development sparked Steen’s interest. He borrowed money from his mother to buy a portable drill, and moved his family – wife, Minnie Lee, also known as M.I., and three small sons – to the Moab area in search of his fortune. Holy cow, I thought…

This is just… sad. Eleven or so years ago, I was still living in Seattle – it was a somewhat lonely existence, as pretty much my life revolved around a few favorite television shows, my cat Studebaker, and occasionally going out with friends to hear live music. As it happened, there were several shows that I was more or less obsessed with, number one being Highlander, which started in 1992 and usually aired on Saturday nights. In the fall of 1994, a new show was about to premiere, and I decided to buy a VCR so I could tape the…

So I went back to work yesterday – wasn’t too sure about the weather, but I was feeling well enough to give it a shot and since I’m now on the antibiotics, I’m probably not too pestilential. It was a typically busy and frustrating first day back; it seems that my least favorite tasks were the ones that were stacked up in a holding pattern. I do wish that I’d had a little better “back-up” on one deal, which had been parked in my email rather than given to one of my backups. I have an issue with one cow-orker…

I just sneezed, extra-juicily, all over it. Gah. So, yes. Still sick, but not as a dog. Maybe I’m just sick as a cat – cute sneezes, lying around all day, demanding to be fed, etc. At least there have been no hairballs, yet. I’m going to try to add in the “Recent Comments” thing again later. It stopped working, and I couldn’t figure out if it was related to an upgrade somewhere, a plugin conflict, or what. I’ll probably be stopping by Learning Moveable Type’s tutorial to figure it out. Spoke to Mom on the phone – she sounds…

This is some of what I’ve been tweaking and playing around with on Flickr. I keep tinkering around, though, and I really need to get the Maui blog entry finished and published. Maybe today or tomorrow? I’ve got more surfing photos, but so far I like this one the best. I’m part of this group on Flick. One or two of my photos from Maui may be good enough to be matched to a known whale, like this one. This photo ended up on the site blog, demonstrating “the power of Flickr.“ Crossposted to Razzberry Vinaigrette.
