Funnies Stuff Bucky Katt is at it again: he proposes to make dinner for Rob and Satchel. He says he shall require a plump rat, a sprig of catnip, and a throw rug. Cotton. I think I know what the throw rug is for. Food Stuff We didn’t order a pizza tonight, we marinated some salmon in a ponzu-like concoction that consisted of soysauce, orange juice, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, toasted sesame seeds, ground multi-colored pepper, and garlic. This time, there was a little wasabi in there. Last time, I grated some orange zest in there. Either way, it…

Yo, my husband David, here’s that link for getting the rich text editor buttons to work in Mozilla on the bookmarklet popup

This posting is a community experiment that tests how a meme, represented by this blog posting, spreads across blogspace, physical space and time. It will help to show how ideas travel across blogs in space and time and how blogs are connected. It may also help to show which blogs (and aggregation sites) are most influential in the propagation of memes. The dataset from this experiment will be public, and can be located via Google (or Technorati) by doing a search for the GUID for this meme (below). Please join the test by adding your blog (see instructions, below) and…

Elise made me think I could do it; Moveable Blog’s “Asides” template may point me to a solution to a niggling little problem in a flailing project that’s almost ready for the main stage. If I get it to work, there will be a short sideblog of quick links on the left column; this will tend to get the quick choppy link-only posts out of the way of the content. Also, it’ll be quicker to jump in and out with a new link for those time when I gotta blog from work. I’ll have to cut down on workaday blogging…

You know how sometimes, things go really well? And other times, things don’t go so well, and you only have yourself to blame? Well, what about those times when really well and not so well are all mooshed together? That’s how I feel. I feel really good about being more informed about politics. Also, I feel pretty good about some of the horses in the race. I like their chances. I feel pretty good about being better informed in general about international and national news. This is a result of reading about 4 or 5 news feeds via Bloglines. I…

It seems that David is now at stage 3 with his WordPress blog: he’s created a button. As in “cool crap to stick on the sidewall.”

Need to verify if I have Save Href installed per Al-Muhajabah’s Movable Type Tips’ recommendation. I quote a LOT of URLs that have ampersands, and although I tried to set up something to fix it, it doesn’t seem to be working. Nowhere close to validating. However, Elise’s previous advice on the topic is also helpful: don’t get too hung up on having to have every page validate.

Good… GOD! There was much gnashing of teeth over center content that was playing “tag” and “hide ‘n seek” with the side columns on the 3-legged blog today. Lots of futzing and saving of various close-but-not-quite stylesheets later, I finally tracked down the problem. It was the italics in the blockquotes. No matter what values I set for the various columns, the italics were just enough to throw it all into confusion. End result: no more italics in blockquotes. So then what do I do? Download Firefox and muck about a bit more. Huh. Not bad – it works in…

But running the website soon became a dominant activity in his day, and on June 28, Billmon announced: “Last call.” Whiskey Bar would no longer accept comments. “You’ve only got so many hours in the day, and like most bloggers, I’ve got a full-time day job, and something had to give,” Billmon said. “In the end, monitoring comments on my blog was becoming a progressively larger part of my blogging time, and I just got to the point where I wasn’t able to keep up with it.” It’s always a shame when a well-written, popular blog stops taking comments, or…

At a recent conference, there’s mention that the new version of MT coming out will have dynamic templates – this is a good thing. However, will have to figure out if I’ll still be able to use MT-Amazon in entries – this may not be possible or prudent with the new version. Need to find out more, as I’m in the habit of doing Amazon tags on the fly, rather than in static content. About breaking plugins, they’ve chosen this route because for some plugins it is ridiculous to expect them to work in dynamic templates. He gave me the…
