This Is Bad. Really Bad. And Also A Great Distraction

    January 2, 2020 - By ginny

Imagine! A third war about to begin as a distraction from impeachment, polls, North Korea, and everything else that’s going wrong. Meanwhile, did anyone think to check on whether there were big, mysterious purchase of futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exxhange in the last few days? Just sayin’. U.S. strike killed Iran Quds Force chief Soleimani: U.S. official https://www.reuters.com/article/us-iraq-security-blast-usa/u-s-strike-killed-iran-quds-force-chief-soleimani-u-s-official-idUSKBN1Z203V?feedType=RSS&feedName=topNews

Review: Why do these shoes have such high ratings? Bagivy “Beans” Slip-On Shoes

    January 1, 2020 - By ginny

I just can't understand, though, why these shoes have such high 4 and 5 star ratings at various sites. I found numerous different sellers on Amazon offering the identical shoes, and most of them had 5 star reviews.

Happy New Year? I Certainly Hope So

    January 1, 2020 - By ginny

There’s a lot to do this year; the house needs work, my health needs work, and the entire country is afflicted with a man-baby sized cyst that needs to be electorally excised.

Trump Engaged in Suspect Tax Schemes as He Reaped Riches From His Father – The New York Times

    October 2, 2018 - By ginny

In the end, the transfer of the Trump empire cost Fred and Mary Trump $20.5 million in gift taxes and their children $21 million in annuity payments. That is hundreds of millions of dollars less than they would have paid based on the empire’s market value, The Times found. — Read on www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html

    The Year-Long Week

    September 28, 2018 - By ginny

It’s become common in my circles on Twitter  to joke that time moves extremely slowly in Trumpland, but at the same time the news cycle moves at light speed. Every day, every night, something new happening.   This nomination brawl for Brett Kavanaugh has become all-consuming. I don’t want hard-right, anti-abortion, partisan operative on the Supreme Court. Politically, for me, he’s the worst choice I can think of for women, minorities, the disabled, the poor, labor, and anyone who opposes the issues that the donor class wants. That’s BEFORE all of the allegations started coming out. The events of the…

Why Silence From Trump and Iowa GOP On Celia Barquín Murder?

    September 23, 2018 - By ginny

Richards was sent to prison last year only after he tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana, failed to complete an anger-management course he started four times and didn’t pay court-ordered fees to a halfway house, court records show. Even then, the two-year sentence was reduced to about seven months after credit for good behavior and some jail time already served. After his release, Richards was arrested weeks later for public intoxication. Soon, he was living in a tent in a homeless encampment in the woods near the Coldwater Golf Links in Ames. He told an acquaintance that he had an…

Get Ready. Long Blog Post Percolating.

    September 22, 2018 - By ginny

It seems like forever since I wrote anything longer than a tweet. Especially since @Twitter went from 140 to 280 characters. And I’ve stayed off of Facebook mostly to avoid seeing propaganda ads (sorry friends and family). And even “forever” is longer now in the Drumpf era. Today on Twitter, I joked that if dog years are 7 human years, 1 newscycle day is 24 years, and one newscycle year is 14,600 human years. How long ago was it that we thought “One Scaramucchi = 11 days” was funny? I haven’t even touched my desktop computer in months (ie., several…

Why Trump won’t call Putin’s election win a ‘sham’ – CNNPolitics

    March 21, 2018 - By ginny

Donald Trump doesn’t care what anyone thinks about his puzzling relationship with Vladimir Putin — that includes his own foreign policy team, Republican senators and US allies. — Read on www.cnn.com/2018/03/21/politics/trump-russia-inconsistencies-putin-call/index.html

  • Insurance season is almost over, thank Dog

Avoid health sharing plans, they're not that great a deal. A friend had one while getting some pretty serious treatment, and he struggled to get the care he needed.

Elisabeth Yoder and her son Darragh recently experienced a huge gap in their health care "coverage." They stand in front of the family home, and they belong to a Christian "health sharing" plan that didn't reimburse for a recent ambulance ride.

From Sew Can She - this looks like a great way to use up charm squares and scraps that can be at least 4 1/2-5 inches square. The contrast fabric and on-point arrangement add good visual interest without being too busy.

  • Tea Towel Hems

Bought some tea towels for gifts, looking for tutorials for adding colorful hanging cuffs after hemming.

I lean toward Method 1, mitred corners. Will decide once the towels arrive in case the selvage edges are good quality.

  • Sorry About The Mess: Trump Wrecking World Economy

Post: He’s nuts if he thinks manufacturers will move to the US; they like paying rock bottom non-union wages and they’ll pass the higher costs to American consumers. Lose-lose! What can possibly go wrong?

Since he lives in his own bubble universe, I’m wondering how long his big donors, the few relatively sane conservatives in Congress, and his “IKEA cabinet” will hold out until the murmurs behind the scenes become screaming fights in the Oval Office.

Spine of steel? Nope. Skull of rock.

Maury Povich lie detector meme: It says here… Trump is as dumb as a box of rocks.

  • Now Listening: Joni Mitchell | Black Crow

Joni Mitchell album cover Black Crow. A woman is superimposed over an empty road that leads into her silhouette.

    Text:

”Black Crow - There's a crow flying Black and ragged Tree to tree He's black as the highway that's leading me Now he's diving down To pick up on something shiny I feel like that black crow Flying In a blue sky I took the ferry to the highway Then I drove to a pontoon plane I took a plane to a taxi And a taxi to a train I've been traveling so long How'm I ever gonna know my home When I see it again I'm like a black crow flying In a blue blue sky In search of love and music My whole life has been Illumination Corruption And diving diving diving diving Diving down to pick up on every shiny thing Just like that black crow flying In a blue sky I looked at the morning After being up all night I looked at my haggard face in the bathroom light I looked out the window And I I saw that ragged soul take flight I saw a back crow flying In a blue sky Oh I'm like a black crow flying In a blue sky”
