Things have been… rather busy at work. And I can’t really blog during the day, not really, shouldn’t do it. However, I feel this need to monitor feeds and watch for breaking news. On the eve of the Inauguration of the man that went to war and took as all with him, an Iraqi family was shattered by a tragic misjudgement by US troops, who shot at an approaching car that failed to stop. It turns out it was full of children. The parents were killed in a hail of bullets that started out as warning shots. Boing Boing: Google launches Picasa 2 I’ve used Picasa/Hello, but stopped using it a while back because it wouldn’t go through the work firewall. Not that I did anything like that at work, mind you. This seems to be the full-on Picasa for free, where before it was just the Hello piece. But just the other night I was in a panic trying to find images on one of my many harddrives. So, we’ll see. I liked using it for my Razzberry Vinaigrette blog.

George Clooney helped plan and recruit celebrities (aka “slebs”) for disaster relief again, this time for tsunami relief. The telethon aired Saturday. Clooney also put together and recruited for a 9/11 sleb telethon. He’s a standup guy. I always thought he was mystery sleb bloggist “Rance.” Not so sure now. The very funny lady who has taken over the old Rance digs as a favor is keeping the lights on with some good stuff and the old crowd still gathers, but we all still wish the real Rance would please stand up again.

Hey, remember me? I used to blog here, back when I a) wasn’t spending vast amounts of time at work and b) wasn’t obsessed with getting the Holy Moly website / blog ready for primetime. I’m trying to figure out a way to get Full-screen calendars in Movable Type [dive into mark] to maybe work as an ongoing events calendar for the Holy Moly blog/website (which is otherwise coming along). I hit a point where I really needed an events calendar that can be updated by anyone with a sign-in, or at least easily updated via email to yours truly. David implemented one that I currently have linked off the new and the old site, but it’s FROM HELL to update. And I’d like the ability to make a blog entry for an upcoming event…

We attended a friend’s son’s Bar Mitzvah today – at the very end, he and the other boy had to drink wine after a blessing. The faces he made: “Yuck. Bleargh. Nasty.” The cantor made him drink the whooole thing, and then some. In the photo, young Adam is greeted by the rest of his friends, who cheered him as he made his escape from the sanctuary at last. We have another event to attend tonight – not as happy a one, unfortunately. This is turning out to be a weekend of events, though.
