I Am An American

Poster style of man throwing a sub sandwich at ICE.
Can you see the people YEET, yeeting the subs of angry men
I am an American.

I am a #strokesurvivor

I am supported in my journey to recovery by Latin Americans and Filipino Americans and Polish Americans. Many of my nurses, doctors, and therapists are immigrants or second-generation, and they are all Americans by choice.

If ICE shows up when my lawn guys are working, I will go out with my walker and shout at them to get off my property, and demand to see a warrant. I will make one hell of a racket, and my immigrant neighbors are welcome to video it all.

Let them arrest a disabled senior woman; I will be armed with a turkey sammich in a Ziploc, a cold can of La Croix, and a folding cane that converts to a nunchuck.

My people fled England for religious freedom; some with the Puritans, others with the Perpetual Migration fund to get to the land of Deseret in Utah. Many did not survive their journeys. I hope to survive mine. I have returned to the faith they fled.

I am a liberal Episcopalian Christian, in the High Church Anglican tradition. I believe that no person is illegal, that grace is offered freely, and that all faiths are sacred and holy, and all contain a shard, a spark of the Divine. War and oppression and genocide are an offense to God, and deliberately causing suffering through government sanctioned cruelty is the worst offense of all. The punishment may come in this world, or the next.

But I hope for prison, and humiliations galore, for all the cruel, corrupt clowns in the circus of incompetents currently running this country. I hope they live through every moment, rather than take the coward’s escape as Jeffrey Epstein did.

By the way, release the Epstein files. All of them, and get Alex Acosta testifying under oath.

I #resist tyranny and fascism, and resolve to shout and shake my cane at oppressors. Shame on them, the lickspittles and incompetents and cosplayers of cruelty. Someday, the rule of law will be restored and the corruption will be scoured away from our institutions, and our government will be functional again.

Until then, we Americans must resist, all of us, in any way we can.
