The image is striking to me for two reasons; I’ve been to Dublin and O’Connell Street is VERY broad, which makes a crowd this size look like a tsunami of humanity.

Second, as an American I’m surprised to see so many Socialists gathered in one place, proudly carrying placards and banners. Usually you might see one guy on the corner in front of the Art Institute handing out copies of the Worker’s Daily. The conservative bully-pundit class in this country controls the narrative so thoroughly that they have succeeded in painting Socialism as a political philosophy espoused by traitors, weak-kneed sissies, and bomb-throwing anarchists.
